Mercury Prize-Nominated Olivia Dean Returns With Two Singles
Mercury Prize-nominated artist Olivia Dean has released two singles over the past couple of months, in the aftermath of her critically-acclaimed debut album 'Messy' which she released in 2023.
Dean released the single 'Touching Toes' in November of last year ('24) and it was very well-received, which I can vouch for. It is a soft, gentle, and all-round lovely track. Dean handles the acoustic guitar as though it is an extension of herself on this track, with the mellow plucking of the strings conveying feelings that the romantic lyricism alone cannot describe. It is a breath of fresh air in a world so full of heartbreak.
Following 'Touching Toes' is 'It Isn't Perfect But It Might Be', which featured in the newest addition of the Bridget Jones films 'Mad About The Boy', big cameo, eh? It's a very theatrical/orchestral track, but to be honest, it was a bit 'samey' throughout.
