Marina's Back and Better Than Ever

On the 7th of February 2025, Marina Diamandis teased a snippet of her latest single, ‘Butterfly,’ to fans on TikTok. 

Nowadays Diamandis goes by the stage name MARINA but came to fame under the moniker Marina and the Diamonds which originated in 2005. You might think ‘the Diamonds’ refers to a band of some sort, but it's actually intended as a reference to her fans. Fans which, to say the least, were eager for the single release.

So, Friday 21st saw the release of 'Butterfly' and its accompanying music video. In conversation with Saint Hoax on Plastik Magazine, Diamandis confirmed that the track is the first single to be released from an upcoming album, which will have a similar aura to that of this first single.

Staccato synths open the track, and her vocals are as divine as ever, displaying her impressive range as she floats along the instrumentation through the verses and pre-choruses. The chorus brings some of that classic early-era Marina fun to the forefront, with her playful, chanting delivery immediately lifting your spirits. 

While a release date is yet to be set for the album, it appears that Diamandis is gearing up to drop it this year. 

You best believe I’ll have it pre-saved as soon as possible, but in the meantime, I'll be playing 'Butterfly' on repeat. Diamandis said spring, and it sprung.
