Nina Cobham – Antes EP

Manchester-based singer-songwriter Nina Cobham has secured her space in the indie scene with her infectious fusion of English and Spanish languages, confessional lyrics, and captivating beats.

It would prove difficult to listen to Nina’s discography without finding yourself jamming out along with her whilst simultaneously finding solace in her lyrics which cover all the bases, from heartbreak and disappointment in friendships to self-doubt, self-reflection, and recognition of personal self-improvement.

Her most recent EP ‘Antes’ was recorded in 2021 and has a bedroom pop-esque vibe – speaking on the creation of the EP Nina has expressed how she had felt lost and “was taking space to work things out" in her life and this comes across in the songs. The transition from late teenager to young adult is a tough one, especially post-pandemic; many young people felt like they were thrown into the deep end, entering the pandemic in education and leaving it having to find their place in the adult world whilst rediscovering who they are. At 22 years old, it is safe to say that Nina has shared that lived experience with her fanbase.

‘Antes’ does not offer its listeners the solution, but rather a safe space to mull over their feelings.
